Tavern clocks, uniquely British wall clocks, almost all made in the 18th Century. In chronological order the first tavern clocks were the early shield type dating from c.1715-1740, then the middle period shield dials dating from c.1740-1770 during which time the round dials emerged dating from c.1750-1800. There are also tear drop and octagonal designs.
